Day Of Dance Filming

During this project the main form of performance is done by filming. I haven’t had any experience in working in film before so I had to prepare throughly by making sure I had my sewing kit on set and any spare fabric should there be any problems.

At times I had to work sound and help with filming itself at certain times I found it really interesting to take on several different roles. However my main role was as a supervisor and making sure that the continuity was always smooth and making sure that the costumes themselves stood out in the lighting and didn’t blend in.

This was particularly relevant with the artist costume for team Cyber where I had paint splattered the suit I had to make sure that the colours stood out and didn’t turn grey in the lighting which was a possibility. I also wanted to make sure that for team Tim Tok that the bright blue tartan skirts stood out from the rest of the black and white colour palette under the lighting.

I wanted to really learn some valuable skills from filming so I learnt that I had to be prepared as I alter some costumes during filming then and there. I felt like I did this well however I wish that I had thought about problems arising before filming had started. Overall though I was very happy with the outcomes.
