During this project one of the roles I was enlisted with was ordering 2 lots of digitally printed fabric for a few of the waistcoats using artwork created by the designer. This has been a bit of a challenge a few issue have arisen whilst attempting to order the fabric.
Due to Covid 19 we had to outsource to get the fabric printed so this required me to use my communication skills to talk to the printers and find out the necessary information need to order the fabric. this was fairly successful at the start however as communication continued there were issues with the budget, the designs and timing. I had to try and be as clear and concise as I could to be as time efficient as possible.

Resourcefulness is another skill I had to enlist in order to order this fabric as I was unable to download the files for the print I had to remotely tell the designer where to get it delivered to etc. this was challenging as I was not able to do it myself and had to explain through emails what needed to be done. This however did mean I had to make clear instructions that could be followed which is something fairly unfamiliar to me so I have now gained a new skill whic i can apply should i need to explain ordering digital fabric to anyone again.

I have also had to push my communication skills further by emailing several groups of people back and forth whilst trying to order this fabric this is a skill I now feel more comfortable with and feel I can apply to any future projects I work on.
From ordering this fabric I have learnt that in the future it is very important to time plan and figure out your time line fully before starting a project. As this would have helped a lot with stress levels and made the process of ordering this fabric less stressful and time consuming. I can definitely use this new knowledge to my advantage and use it moving forward in my career.
